Characteristics

HX-6800 is one-component, neutral-curing, low modulus silicone sealant with good adhesion and long shelf life for the construction and glazing industry.

HX-6800 cures at room temperature under the action of atmospheric moisture to give a permanently flexible silicone rubber.

Application

Sealing between glass and aluminum of structural bonding.

Sealing of joints between glazing and supporting structure.

Sealing of connecting and expansion joints in the building.

Adhesion

HX-6800 exhibits excellent primerless adhesion to many substrates, e.g. glass, tiles, ceramics, enamel, glazed tiles and clinker;  metal, e.g. aluminium, steel, zinc or copper; impregnated, varnished or painted wood; and many plastics.

Users must carry out their own tests due to the great variety of substances.

The adhesion can be improved in many cases by pretreatment of the substrates with a primer.

Restrictions on use

HX-6800 may be discolored in contact with some organic elastomers, e.g. EPDM, APTK and neoprene.

HX-6800 is not recommended for use on natural stone, such as marble, granite, quartzite, as it can cause staining.

HX-6800 is not recommended for sealing of aquaria.

The curing time can be extended at lower temperature, low humidity or by low volume of air change.
