8.Appearance:White monoclinic crystals. Commercial product is a pale, 

amber brown liquid with an aromatic smell of xylene.

Mode of action

Biochemistry Mode of action probably involves an interaction with octopamin

 receptors in the tick nervous system, causing an increase in nervous activity. 

Mode of action Non-systemic, with contact and respiratory action. 

Expellent action causes ticks to withdraw mouthparts rapidly and 

fall off the host animal.

Controlling spectrum

Control of all stages of tetranychid and eriophyid mites, pear suckers, scale insects, 

mealybugs, whitefly, aphids, and eggs and first instar larvae of Lepidoptera 

on pome fruitcitrus fruit, cotton, stone fruit, bush fruit, strawberries, hops, cucurbits, 

aubergines,capsicums, tomatoes, ornamentals, and some other crops. 

Also used as an animal ectoparasiticide to control ticks, mites and lice on cattle, dogs, 

goats, pigs and sheep.

Safety

Amitraz are very safe in dogs, if used correctly. The collar needs to be placed 

so you can get two fingers between the collar and the dog's neck – no more, no less. 

If  placed too tightly, irritation can occur. Be sure to cut off any excess portion

of the collarso the dog (or other pets) can not chew the end of it. If ingested by a pet, 

contact your veterinarian.
