If the battery level falls below a critical level, the device will emit a chirping sound once every minute to indicate a low battery status. Batteries should be replaced as soon as the chirping begins.6) Self-Testing FunctionThe device checks to make sure the batteries and smoke sensor are fully functional by performing a self-test. The self-test is indicated by a brief red flash ofthe light ring around the drill button. The self-test occurs once every forty seconds.7) Weekly Test FunctionThe device should be checked weekly for proper operation. By pressing the fire drill button briefly once, the device will run a self test. Upon successful completion of this self testing procedure, the device will playback your recorded message, and then beep three times.
