Situated on the Tibet-Qinghai plateau in the Qaidam Basin are the largest plantations of organic Goji berries. Exposed to altitude climate and an average of 3000 hours of sunshine a year, temperatures vary by 23 degree Celsius between day and night. Because of the altitude of the plantations, and the even higher altitude of the water sources that spring from a height of 5500 metres, there is no air-pollution or any other kind of industrial pollution affecting the berries. Consequently, the quantity of flavones (contributing to the high anti-oxidant of the Goji berries) are higher in these berries than they are in any other area. These berries are ideal for consumption as dried berries; they are also often manufactured into berry powder.
