Annular BOP (blowout preventer) must be equipped with hydraulic control system before its use, usually with ram blowout preventer, but can also be used alone. It can complete the following operations:

May seal kelly bars, drilling pipes ,drill pipes joints, drill collars, casing, cables and other tools in a variety of shapes and sizes.

In case of using buffers accumulator, it can pass 18º/35º thread-free weldindg joints, for forcible triping operation.

Generally annular blowout preventer with tubular plastic core has its static pressure under 14MPa  and dynamical pressure under 9 MPa. Annular blowout preventer with tublar plastic core is of smaller path, more applicable for coupling in case of sealing dynamic pipe string than other annular ones with cheaper rubber tube. It is mainly used for lifting lower tubing, sucker rods under low pressure, seal under oil scraping and sand blowing operation.
