 Silver has the highest electrical conductivity and the highest thermal conductivity in any metal. It is widely used for make and break contacts, particularly at the lower end of the medium duty range. The high conductivity of silver allows relatively small contacts to carry high currents continuously without overheating, but it has only a moderate resistance to wear and welding.
