New born pigs need more time to develop the digestive organs. During these times, it is prone to nutritional diarrhea because of the low activity of endogenous digestive enzyme and the low nutrient digestibility. And the piglets, from the date of birth, undergo the stresses due to the changes of growth environment, weaning, group transferring; the change of the diet composition and other factors. These stresses make a further decline of their low development of immunity, intestinal villous atrophy, and sharp decline of the secretion of digestive enzymes, and decrease of feed digestion and absorption. To minimize the stresses on the production performance of piglets is the key to success of piglets breeding.

Young animals are mostly fed with corn and soybean meal. Studies show that: xylan is the main NSP in the corn, but soybean meal is β-mannanase. These NSPs make the intestinal chyme viscosity and fecal water content increasing, and affect their digestion and absorption of feed, resulting in nutrient digestibility reducing and animals slow-growing.
