Heart & Arrow (Cupid Cut)
Hearts and arrows ( also called Cupid cut) are a visual spectacle with certain
diamonds.
This pretty pattern was first recognized by the Japanese in the 1980’s using a
viewing scope gadget. Viewing the hearts and arrows (H&A) doesn’t guarantee
excellent or ideal symmetry.
Very precise analysis is required to ascertain the perfect shape of the hearts and
arrows and this must be performed under near microscopic conditions using the
novel toy like ‘Hearts and Arrows Scope’. There are 8 hearts and 8 arrows, if
any one of these 16 patterns does not perfectly align it is not true H & A.
Grading The Hearts
Quick Guide
1. 8 equal uniformed symmetrical hearts
2. 8 distinct symmetrical Hearts that separate from Arrowheads above. If above is
correct check the following.
3. Check if the hearts are split, measure length of heart then the length of the split.
4. Calculate the % of the length split, if it is greater than 8% and there are more than
2 of them
IT FAILS.
Grading The Arrows
1. Each arrow must be clearly visible with a shaft and a arrow head.
2. The 8 arrows shafts as well as heads have to be straight and in the right position.
3. The 8 arrow points must meet the girdle.
4. There must be total uniformity and balance.
