POTASSIUM NITRATE
Properties: Colorless transparent rhombic crystal or white powder. Relative density 2.109, melting point 334°C. At about 400°C, it weill decomposite, release oxygen and change into potassium nitrat. If continue the heating, it will generate potassium oxide. Well soluble in water, liquid ammonia and glycerin. Insoluble in absolute ethyl alcohol and ether. Not easy to deliquesce in the air. It is a strong oxidant which will burn and explode when contact with organic matters and release toxic gas with pungent odor. It will release strong light and burn when heated with carbon powder or sulfur.
