1. A fish tape (also known as a draw wire or draw tape) is a tool used by electricians to route new wiring through walls and electrical conduit.

2. Made of a narrow band of spring steel, by careful manipulation, the tape can be "fished" (guided) through the confined spaces within wall cavities. Once guided through, the new wiring can be pulled into the wall by attaching it to the end of the fish tape and retracting the fish tape.

3. Spring-steel tape helps you thread cables and wires through drywall, conduit, insulation and more. Built-in thumb lock holds wire in place.
