RUBAFLEX elastomeric insulation is an ideal thermal insulation for pipes, flanges, valves, and storage tanks in building, construction, plumbing, sanitation, heating, air conditioning, refrigeration, and ventilation. With closed cell structure RUBAFLEX insulation effectively retards heat flow and prevents condensation when properly installed.

  

RUBAFLEX AM meets 25 of the flame rating and 50 of the smoke development rating according to ASTM E84 which is the most common test method specified for determining the flame spread and smoke generation characteristics of an insulation material.

In the United State, most building codes require a maximum 25/50 (flame spread/smoke development) rating for a material used in an air handling plenum or as duct or air handling equipment liner. Rating is typically required at the thickness used.

Test result of RUBAFLEX AM is stated as:

Flame Spread Rating: <  25 at 1-1/2”± and belowSmoke Development Rating < 50 at 1-1/2”± and below 

ASTM E84 is similar to other test methods commonly applied in the US market: NFPA 225, UL723, and CAN/ULC S102-M88. By passing 25/50 RUBAFLEX AM becomes one of the few rubber insulation brands that has achieved the highest fire performance.

AM is available in sheet, roll, or tubing. AM is also available with aluminum foil facing, self-seal, self-adhesive or UV protective paint.
