Zirconium is used in services too severe for stainless steels, nickel alloys and titanium or where a significant improvement in service life can be achieved by choosing zirconium instead of less expensive metals or plastic.
When zirconium is chosen for an application, the high cost and expected serviceability require the chemical composition, mechanical properties and overall casting quality be precisely controlled.
Zirconium seamless tube is suitable for environments and applications where the properties of stainless steels are not sufficient.
Feature:
Zirconium alloys have low neutron absorption, high strength and high corrosion resistance under different operating conditions. Unlike stainless steels the texture of a zirconium product will have a significant effect on its performance because irradiation creep, yield strength, and stress corrosion cracking resistance are strong functions of texture.
Size:YoungLin zirconium tubing (seamless) are available in size range outside diameter 6– 114 mm with wall thicknesses from 0.5 to 7mm. The zirconium tubes are delivered in straight lengths or as U-bent tubes.

Product test:Ultrasonic test, Eddy current test, Hydraulic test, Bend test, Flaring test and so on.
A tube sample, one sample per 6 meters of 10 lengths, must stand and be flared with a tool to form wide-open mouth of flare without any cracks or imperfections.
The flaring test serves to establish the forming behavior of pipes & tubes which is expanded to a specified degree. This flaring test is carried out in conformity with the code requirements. The specimen to be tested is expanded in a press to the degree specified. Defects if occur as result of this test are not permissible.
Flattening test mainly serves to detect microscopic internal and external flaws. It involves compressing a tubular ring between two planes parallely placed to a predetermined distance. Incipient cracks and internal or external defects if occurs as a result of this test are not permissible. Flattening test is conducted as described in ASTM ect.

Zirconium owes its excellent corrosion resistance to a passivating oxide film (ZRO2) that forms very rapidly on its surface. This film makes the material resistant to virtually all organic acids and alkaline solutions, as well as to mineral acids. Moreover this film is self healing in contact with aqueous media.
