1. Introduction:

Industrial Anthracene exists in coal tar: relative density: 1.25(27°C);1.283(25°C); melting point: 217°C; boiling point: 342°C; flashing point: 196.1,121.1(closed).

It is insoluble in water, difficult to be soluble in ethanol and aether, and it is easily soluble in hot benzene.
