ASA, the terpolymer of acrylon, styrene and axrylate, is a new engineering resin which is developed against the disadvantage of ABS with bad weatherability. ASA molecular structure has no double bond but good weatherability. That is to say ASA can keep its physical property stability without coating even exposed in outdoor ultraviolet, damp, rain, illumination and ozone for a long time. It is especially used directly outdoors and broadly used in automobile, Electronic and Electrical, articles of everyday use, outdoor decoration material and so on.
According to the testing result, the ageing resistance of ASA is over ten times better than ABS’. The solubility parameter of ASA is 9.6-9.8, which is close to PVC’ with 9.5-9.7.
They two have good copatibility, so ASA/PVC structural section is easy to process, but hard to peel off.
With the help of the inland famous university the PVC business department adpoted the import resin combined with weatherabiliy pigment and developed the high weatherability ASA modified material. The clients could choose high machine finish and press polish products. The property of this kind of ASA is good weatherability, high flow, easy to shape, dust-free, which is appropriate for the manufacture of plastic door and window, plastic roof tile downpipe and so on.
