Hypochlorite & Disinfection
The availability of Titanium anodes has been a major break-through for the on-site production of hypo chlorite for potable water treatment and for both private and public swimming pools.
The use of Titanium anodes for on-site generation of hypochlorite is both safer and more environment friendly than the alternative storage and use of chlorine gas or bulk hypo chlorite.
By using Titanium anodes, the use of highly corrosive and dangerous chemicals, such as hydro chloric acid can be avoided.
The functioning of the anodes is based on the electrolysis of sodium chloride (table salt), which is added to the swimming water. Hypo chlorite is formed during the electrolysis. The optimum salt concentration is between 3 and 5 g/l. A higher chloride efficiency can be reached by using membrane cells. This is especially interesting for larger installations / larger pools.
Our Titanium anodes are characterised by a high efficiency and a long lifetime. Some of the specific circumstances which our anodes have to withstand are:
De-scaling processes (for instance rinsing with acid)High electrolyte velocitiesReversal of polarityFor these special circumstances we have developed specific and highly suitable Titanium anodes.
For a high chloride efficiency and a long lifetime under several conditions, the following types of anodes are available:
