Geosynthetic clay liner(GCL) is a new type of geotechnical synthetic material. It is synthetic permeation proof material that is produced by clay of other low permeation mine material external film geotechnical texture or geotechnical film by the way of knitting or sewing. Our company uses sodium bentonite with high expansion; its feature is : it expands after meeting water, generates hydration and forms gel without permeation. This kind of bentonite also has capacity of saving moisture; its water absorption content and water content can reach over 10 times of own weight.

Product features:

comparing with geotechnical film, its advantages are mainly shown as following:

a: It has goog tightness, water proof and water isolation performances, bentonite forms dense and non-permeation gel isolation film layer of bentonite under normal water pressure status.

b: It has good flexibility and can adapt uneven sedimentation well.

c: It has long waterproof capacity; bentonite is natural inorganic mine material and will not have corrosion and aging phenimena.

d: Its water absorption tickness increases several times, so it isn’t easy to break. It has own repair capacity even under the situation of breakage.

GCL bentonite waterproof pad produced by our company has following advantages:

a: foreign and domestic advanced production equipments are used, its knitting has disorderly and irregular knitting type, can prevent rolling and dropping of bentonite and is good for uniform absorption.

b: since production equipment is advanced, its product width can be adjusted within the range of 2m-6m according to user’s needs.

Installation methods

Disposal of subgrades

the subgrades must be tamped before paving the GCLs, the surfave should be smooth. And it should not have the obvious hollow space.the surfave should be dry.the minium angle of land surfave exposed to the sun should be more than 30cm.the construction of GCLs ahould be begin until checking out the foundation.

Preparation before paving the GCLs

drawing the GCLs paving order.examing the GCLs appearance quality.the construction of GCLs should be processed under the weather with no rain and snow.

when paving the GCLs, it can use the machine and also the manpowder.paving the GCLs according to the stated order and way.paving the GCLs, seaming overlapping between mat and mat should be staggered.there should not be sand and soil, hydrocele and so on impurity, to avoid affecting on the overlapping quality.to avoid the GCLs gliding, had best to fix it with nails when installing in vertical and bevel. Such as drawing.both sides of the GCLs are geotextile and woven geotextile, when paving, the geotextile should be next to the water.when paving, examine the GCLs appearance at any moment backfill.

a.GCLs paved must be backfilled on the day.

b.the sand or the sifted soil is the best choice, and the soil should not have impurity with more than 10mm.

c.the soil must be tamped every backfilling 50cm, and the degree of density should be more than 85%.

d.pay attention to the GCLs when tamping, it cannot be damaged.

e.when backfilling in the planar surfave, the thickness should be 30cm at least.
