L-methionine from alcohol formed thin film micro-crystalline hexagonal appearance is white or light yellow crystalline, slightly sulfur odor. Soluble in water, soluble in warm dilute alcohol, acid and sodium hydroxide, insoluble in pure alcohol, ether and benzene. Melting point of 280-281 °C.
