Abstract

CapStymer SEBS is the strongest, the most highly dilutive, and the most compatible with polyolefins and mineral oils of all the styrenic thermoplastic block copolymers. CapStymer SEBS polymers are second generation styrenic block copolymers with a hydrogenated midblock of styrene-ethylene/butylene-styrene (SEBS). They are intended for use where UV resistance, high service temperature, and processing stability are essential.

CapStymer SEBS polymers are the material of choice for production of soft, strong compounds for handles and grips, elastic components in diapers, oil gels for telecommunications and medical applications, impact modifiers of engineering thermoplastics, flexibilizers/tougheners for clear polypropylene.

Applications

1. TPE compound

TPE of A0-95 shore can be produced through mixing CapStymer SEBS with polypropylene, naphthene oil, hydrogenated naphthene oil, white oil etc. Such elastomers have excellent surface quality, weather fastness and aging resistance. It is extensively used for soft material such as handles, stationery, toys, handgrips of sports equipment, sealing strip, wires and cables, toothbrush stem and other wrap material.

2. Polymer compatilizer and modifier

CapStymer SEBS can be modified or co-mixed with PA6, PC, PPO, PET, PBT and PP to be used as compatilizer for plastic co-mixing. It also can be used as the compatilizer for engineering plastics, such as for PE and PS.

3. Cables and wires

CapStymer SEBS blended with PP, White oil and flame resistant can be used to produce the coat of wires and cables.

4. Adhesives and sealants

CapStymer SEBS combined with petroleum resin such as C5 can be used to produce high-grade adhesives and sealants.

5. Lubricants

Due to its warm fastness and aging resistance, CapStymer SEBS can be Used directly as the stabilizer of viscosity index of lubricant.

Storage

Should be stored in dry, cool, ventilated room; keep away from water, moisture, high temperature and fire. This product has a shelf life of at least 18 months if stored in tightly closed original container at room temperature.

If this product is kept beyond the shelf life recommend on the product label, it is not necessarily unusable, but a quality control should be performed on the properties relevant to the application.
