In early 2002, with great efforts of professional and technical personnel of our company and by using the mature product technology of other countries for reference, we successfully developed high manganese wear-resistant steel X120Mn12 rolled plates (Hadfield steel)which conformed to the actual domestic conditions and was the first of its kind in China. After examined in the Testing Center of Shanghai Research Institute of Materials (Materials Testing Center for Machinery Industry) and the Special Steel Testing Center of Baosteel, and actually used in equipments of many large and medium-sized Chinese enterprises for several years, it has been proved that: our products have fully achieved the same quality and performance with imported ones in this kind (corresponding foreign brands: JIS:SCMnH11, AFNOR:Z120Mn12, and DI:1.3401,EN: X120Mn12). So far, we have not received any feedback showing that our products have shorter lives than the ones of other brands. Compared to the imported ones, high manganese wear-resistant steel X120Mn12 rolled plates(Hadfield steel) developed by our company are matched in performances but have a far lower price. Practice has shown that high manganese wear-resistant steel X120Mn12 rolled plates (Hadfield steel)have excellent wear resistance to strong shock and great pressure, they are easy to be cut and welded, but difficult to be machined, and although they have high hardness, their toughness is still very excellent and they can be bent to needed shapes such as cylinders.
At present, high manganese wear-resistant steel plates have been widely used to form the parts easy to be worn under strong impacts of devices, e.g. they are used as wear-resistant liner plates. In foreign countries, as the material of liner plates and shields of wear-resistant devices, high manganese wear-resistant steel X120Mn12 rolled plates (Hadfield steel)have replaced castings for a long time. As their excellent wear resistance, high manganese wear-resistant steel X120Mn12 rolled plates (Hadfield steel)are widely used to form the parts easy to be worn under strong impacts of shot blasting machines, ball mills, grinders, safes, bullet-proof vehicles, and other devices by high and medium level users of foreign-owned and joint venture enterprises in shipbuilding, automobile, machinery, power generation, cement, mining, coal, and other industries. They have become the inevitable development trend of the material selection of new generation wear-resistant steel.

Data from Practical Applications
The application data from a user of shot blasting machine is as follows: steel plate sample: 12mm×500mm×1000mm GLT-500; diameter of steel cut wire shot: 1.5mm; direct shot blasting; projected distance: 700mm; projection velocity: 75m/s; shot blasting time: 100 hours; the longest continuous shot blasting duration: 9 hours; no obvious change of the thickness measured before and after shot blasting at 10 marked test points had been found.
