Wood Pellet Machine
The wood pellet machine market includes a variety of pellet mills, although the two main types are the flat die and ring die designs. Each wood pellet machine has certain advantages and disadvantages, but for residential and farm use the flat die pellet mill is most common.
The flat die pelleting machine was first invented in the early 20th century to make feed. However after improving the quality of dies and rollers to handle additional pressure, the pellet press became suitable to produce wood pellets from biomass materials such as sawdust, straw, stalks and grass.
How are Pellets Made?
To make pellets with a flat die pellet mill the raw material is placed in the machine and is then compressed through holes in a die.
For some pellet mills, the die is stationary and the roller is driven, for others, vice versa.

Wood Pellet Mill with Rotating Roller Design:
There are two designs of the flat die pellet mills/small pellet mill, One version of the wood pellet mill has a rotating die while the other has rotating rollers. In more details, the first type of these small pellet mills has a stationary roller shaft with a rotating die create wood pellets. The second design has a stationary die with a rotating roller shaft so that the rollers spin to force the feedstock through the holes of the die which are then condensed into wood pellets.
What are the pellets made from?
Pellets can be made from wood,sawdust,plastic,foam,wheat,barley,cotton and fibrous waste. Steam or binding agent such as molasses may also be added.
